IanN Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 We are just in the process of procuring a new lease agreement for printers and MFDs (about 50 devices across 2 sites) via RM1599 and I was interested in finding out whether other schools / trusts have gone down the 3 or 5 year agreement route. So my question is: How many devices and was it 3 or 5 year? Thanks for your time. Ian
pete Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 We went down the 4 year route (may have to ask for it, but it's an option). Reasons: 5 years is too long - the other school in our umbrella trust had a fair amount of problems with reliability in the 5th year. 3 years is fine, but the kit's generally pristine. It's more expensive to run a 3yr than a 4yr. This is for 8 copiers on our site and 6 (I think) at the other school. Individual contracts but "give us a discount because you're getting two for the effort of one".
Oaktech Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 my last place 25 devices, 3 sites, 5 year lease to get the costs down. This place 4 devices on an 2 year lease to coincide with the contract end for our federated site and then a renegotiation with addition of 4 more devices and a 3 year lease.
PotNoodleTech Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Moving to 3 year here. We need to be more flexible and adaptable, plus if the agreement is worth it's salt then you will be able to purchase "extra years" at a nominal price which gives you the best of both worlds as the extra years on the three year lease work out cheap as chips per quarter, thus part-negating the increased quaterly payments you get on 3 years. The days of 5-7 year leases are over here.

For us it has to be an operating lease.
