Epson Network projection over Wifi

We are looking at buying a EB-U32 projector which connects to the network with 2.4ghz n wifi.

If any of you used the network projection software to a wireless epson projector - does it work as well as it does with the cabled projectors?

It definitely works from a wireless device to a wired projector but the software isn't listed on Epson's support page for it which makes me suspicious that it doesn't work at all to a wireless projector.

 

Not having to use splitters or run cables from the teacher machines has made this our preferred way to hook up the PCs to the projectors as we refresh rooms.

Well the answer is yes it does but the video playback is not as smooth as it is on cable - it looks like it is dropping every other frame. General displaying things though are absolutely fine

2nd update - changing access point from one of our 6 year old one to a new one fixed the frame dropping problem - works as smooth as cable now.

I'm just looking at purchasing a projector with the option of networking, I've never used a projector on the network.

 

Are they reliable?

 

We have a brand new school thats been built but they didn't put any cable runs for the projector, it will be easier to thread a cat5 cable instead of hdml etc. They've also put speakers, stage and lighting in and terminated it at the back of the hall. Unless we have the PC at the back i can't think of another way to get audio from the pc to the amp at the back of the hall.

We had a new school build which sent us down this route as well (they didn't want cables running everwhere). I only have experience with the Epson projectors and we haven't had any problems with the projectors or the image quality.

 

We encountered one problem - staff not waiting for the projector to become network ready before trying to connect to it.

Connecting isn't automatic - staff have to launch the epson easy network connect program and select the projector from the list (we have a profile set so each computer only sees the projector in its own room) - they don't have a problem with that bit.

The epson projectors take about 20 seconds from being switched on to being ready - they display their network name and/or ip address when ready.

It doesn't matter how often we tell them to wait for them - once a fortnight or so we'll get a call saying it isn't working when they just haven't waited for it to start up but it's never had any other problems.

 

It does make it easy for staff with windows tablets who want to project their tablet (ios devices are limited to pictures and web pages) - we have one biology teacher who uses his macbook air.

 

We have the main hall projector set up like this so staff/presenters can stand at the lectern with their device and wirelessly project onto the stage behind them

 

The networked projectors can be managed remotely as well so you can check bulb life/status, turn them on/off and change input from your desk when people call to say it's not working. Sound, by default, is sent to the projector so if there's an audio out you can avoid the sound cables form the computers as well. It can be changed in the profile.

 

Multiple screen require multiple projectors - they won't combine a dual screen. One projector per screen (you can have the same screen sent to multiple projectors although we haven't ever had a need)

It's highlighted an issue i'm unsure on though. Presenting video via the network should be easier, but it depends on what happens with the audio - i would prefer to use audio out from the pc into a standalone mixer

You can do that - we have it differently in different areas. some straight fro pc to desk speakers and some to wall speakers via the projector
