Switch was part of a stack which continued running however this one just wouldn't boot. Managed a console connection but nothing

Device is Cisco Catalyst 2960S-48TS-L must admit wasn't overlay sure if it was worth repairing.

They might tell you to go via your re-seller, but if you can't be bothered doing that tell them they have gone bust. I had a 2960G replaced, told them that story and they changed it out. It will take about a week for them to ship it out as you don't have a Smart Net contract.

Also when you get one back you will need to do the following before adding it into the stack.

1. Make sure it has the same IOS as the others.

2. The new switch is re-numbered to the same one as the missing broken device.

3. The priority of the new matches the other bust switch.

Take a config backup first before you add it again.

Step 1 is really important with 2960S. If you need any help I can assist with all these steps.

You can add the switch back into the stack while the other switches are running without downtime.

2960S is quite an old switch so would be very surprised if you will get it repaired under warranty, unless you have Cisco SmartNET on the hardware
