School Calendar

Hi All,

 

Our school calendar is currently done in an excel spreadsheet, I am looking at a way to move this onto our exchange 2010 server, automatically share the calendar with all members of staff and have a way to embed the calendar on an intranet page. Is this possible?

 

My other concern is that we may be moving to office 365 in the future, so I don't want to implement something that works on exchange 2010 but will not work if/when i move it over to office 365.

I did the same - nobody ever touched it, still prefer an excel version!!!!!!

We too use an excel spreadsheet which us converted to pdf and displayed on the intranet. It's all fine at the start of the year, but now you have to scroll past 10 months to get to what you want to know. So next year, we're going to have a calendar in outlook which is shared amongst all staff as read and the calendar maintainers will have full access. It is up to each staff member to add that to their outlook client, either desktop or owa. We have this in place already, although not all of the dates haven't been entered yet.

 

Nighty, my Frankenstein powershell script runs as a cron to extract the calendar from outlook to csv. There is also a php script which takes the csv and manipulates into three other files, a csv for the public facing website (which excludes staff meetings, slt events, etc), a csv for the intranet (which includes everything) and an ical file (which might include everything). The two csvs are used by the JEvents Joomla module. One calendar is displayed via iframe on the public facing website (which is some strange propriety cms) and the other is displayed on the Joomla intranet. The ical file can be imported into the calendar app on the teachers iOS and Android tablets. This will ensure that changes made to the outlook calendar, will appear on the website and intranet the next day.

We've had a Google calendar for sometime which we have embedded on our website.

We use Google calendars - I've set up one for the website (completely public view only with admin staff able to edit), one for governors, one for staff and just give the appropriate permissions for view or edit. It's embedded in our website, but people can also subscribe, so they can have it in any device they want.
