Unifi Ap & vlan

Hi All,

 

I am wondering if anyone has set up a unifi wireless with separate SSIDs and separate vlans.

 

Our network is split up by a Cisco switch and 2 vlans 1 for admin 1 for curriculum.

 

I am hoping to have a trunk port from the Cisco to the POE then on the access point have school name admin connected to vlan 1 which is the admin vlan on the Cisco and school name curric connected to vlan 2 which is the curriculum vlan on the Cisco.

 

Would this work or am I missing a whole lot of config on the POE switch?

 

Is this even possible?

We have been looking at Unifi wireless and networking kit and it can do what you want.

 

This ap support 4 ssids and multiple vlans https://www.ubnt.com/unifi/unifi-ap-ac-pro/

 

You need a server to run the controller software to manage it or get the cloud key

We are running UniFI and currently have 3 SSIDs, Staff, students and guest.

 

Don't ask me how it's setup as I just keep it running!! (Which is easy) If it breaks and I have to rebuild it i'll let you know!

It should work fine. We run UniFis with 3 SSIDs at the moment.

 

Main - VLAN1

Mobile - VLAN2

VOIP - VLAN900

 

VLAN1 is our native untagged VLAN, the other two are tagged.

I have sorted it and got it to work! The nightmare was our Cisco switch which is managed by the local authority is configured to have the admin network on vlan 1 and the curriculum on vlan 2. However on a unifi ap you can't set anything on vlan 1.
