Hi all - Currently looking at other MDM products and considering inTune. Do any schools use it and would care to comment on it at all please?

Thanks all

Interesting I've today signed up for their 30 day trial. We currently use the free version of Meraki, which was fine when we were just iOS. I'll update with how I get on but would be interested in hearing from any other users.

We are just looking into this now, and wondering how it would compare to Meraki. The pricing in the education sector is less for intune, than it would be for Meraki for 100+ devices (enterprise licence).

If anyone goes for this, let us know!

Well so far...

- All works very well on iOS, I haven't tried app installation yet but we may well not use it for this just wifi and security profiles

- Enrolling Windows 10 devices was a pain with key pieces of information missing from the setup guides. Anyway I got there in the end and now have device visibility on the Intune portal. We are looking at this being our solution for a move to BYOD and the process here will be a barrier.

- I am currently stuck trying to get any profiles to appear on Win 10 devices. I spent an hour with Microsoft support today with no joy. I'm awaiting a second call tomorrow...

Has anyone managed to get profiles out to any Windows devices?

What's it like locking down iOS devices like iPads ?

As I said it seems to work reasonably well, far better than on Windows devices!!!! The initial setup/management profile is handled best though the Intune Company Portal app which links in to the Office365 Azure AD. Sign in with school credentials and the device is registered - users need to first be allocated an Intune licence.

I've then deployed a simple wifi profile and security profile and both worked quickly. I haven't tried app deployment yet but that will require moving our VPP across which I'm not contemplating even attempting until I'm certain.

Thanks ! What can you lock down / hide? Can you lock he settings app more or even hide it as that's been our biggest problem with students enabling accessibility options

It can set all of the same settings and apps down that you can through apple configurator.

As has been said in many other discussions on here the restrictions that can be applied through any MDM are limited to what Apple allows in Apple Configurator. It gets a little better with each release but I'm not sure they will ever allow the blocking of accessibility.

How can Apple push iPads in education when you can't flaming lock them down ! So frustrating [emoji35]

We are looking into InTune today, so far we can see a basic list of configuration policies for iPads. Quite similar to Meraki, but none of the ios9 features. It suggests creating configuration policies in apple configurator, and upload them to InTune to push out?

Microsoft Devices dont have much for locking them down, it may be a case of hunting down OMA-URI commands for hiding features

We are in the market for an iOS mdm at the moment. Currently using Meraki free but we need to start using ios9 features like pushing apps to devices (btw meraki quoted us $240,000/year WTF? I guess they don't want our business). With the amount of devices that we have (7,000) we need a way to tag or group the devices based on who they are checked out to. Example: iPad get checked out to Johnny Smith in Mrs. Jones Class. iPad gets tagged with "iPad - Johnny Smith, Mrs. Jones, 3rd Grade, Washington Elementary School". Apps can be pushed to any of those tags. INTUNE has no way of doing this. That's a deal breaker for us. EVERY mdm out there has a way of doing this. I've expressed our frustrations to our MS rep. I also have serious concerns with how quickly they adopt new technology. I think they only recently started supporting VPP which has been out for numerous years. So far JAMF and MobileIron are looking much much better.....good luck.

Have you looked at airwatch? I'm using it at the moment and it's around £10 per year per device. Or was when I last bought it.
