iPhone 7 leaks

Hi everyone,

 

It has been a few leaks on the new iPhone and what the visuals will be like. What do people think of this compared to last years model ? It's also rumoured (due to leeks) that they're still going to sell the 16gb version? Come on Apple it's 2016, this makes me mad!

16gb is more than enough if you just use it as a phone and for basic apps.. I also keep the majority of my stuff in the cloud these days or stream music etc.

I think it's more to do with the price than the size. To go from 16GB to 64GB costs us £80, but for Apple it's probably only a couple of £s.

 

Apple could easily make the base model 32GB, although if they did fewer people would buy the 64GB model.

If they didn't offer the 16GB the price of the 64GB wouldn't come down though.

 

When my iPhone 6 goes im getting a OnePlus 3 I think.

I've never had a problem with 16gb of storage on my phone.

I'd be more miffed if they didn't have a 16gb option and i had to pay more to have storage i don't use.

 

Just got my iphone 6 though so doubt i'll be changing till a 7s/8/when the battery finally dies.

 

I just hope the don't kill off the 3,5mm audio port.

I know doing so makes sense in some ways, but far to much of my kit will need replacing, including my in car stereo

I'd also rather have a bigger battery than a smaller phone. my iphone 6 is sat in a bulky battery case, and feels more solid and more comfy in my hand

I did hope they would offed 32gb as base storage like they did with the iPad Pro. iPhone SE only got 16gb as base which is pathetic for a expensive phone in 2016

Sales figures are way down for the IPhone on previous years as people are getting wise to the overhiked prices from Apple and are thus seeking out better deals by switching to android, once away from the walled garden ethics of Apple people are more than happy with the features and freedom they get from much cheaper and better looking phones, this is probably the reason why Apple are bringing back the cheaper version of their model but with less features of course,

 

This is just my opinion mind, there are some things in life worth paying for but not an overpriced IPhone!

You're apparently ignoring the people above who appear to be doing just fine with 16Gb.

Now, I get you, I really do. I couldn't make do with the 16Gb phone either and I'll be glad to see the back of it. I can cheerfully fill my 64Gb iPhone's storage without breaking a sweat. But neither you or I are Apple's whole customer base. They wouldn't be selling it if they didn't have data that suggested it was an important option for them. Options, choices, are a good think even if I don't understand why anyone would pick certain choices.

 

In a way, I find the existence of the 16Gb iPad to be more confusing than the existence of the 16Gb iPhone.

tbh i just moved the other way, android to iphone, and the difference in quality is immense.

 

Google really need to get a hang on manufacturers and networks actually getting security updates out in good time, and ensuring phones are supported for a decent leangth of time.

Even apple don't abandon updates for year old phones like samsung and HTC seemed to be doing

No its called market saturation. Most people who want a smart phone now have one and they have hit that point where they are not advancing at the rate they were so new versions are very small incremental upgrades. Result = people keep mobiles for longer

Kind of agree with @davidcvs problem is I find Android can be rather fragmented sometimes what with updates causing icons to go missing off a home screen, updates to the OS make it run more slowly and cause problems unless you do a full wipe and re-load of an OS. Normally I root my phones so I don't see these problems as much but my girlfriend (OnePlus X) does and it drives her nutty. Apps crashes and other bugs also become obvious.

 

I like android for the freedom to do what you want and I don't think I could go to iOS due to the lack of things you can do with it although there is no denying out of the two iOS supersedes Android in quality and refinement.

 

It all depends on the user and what they specifically want, my mum might want an iOS device as it just works and rarely has issues where as being a Network Administrator I need Android for the flexibility... Each to their own.

On a side note, I bought my iPhone 6 for £400 a year ago 2nd hand, and its now apparently still worth £350 quid! I've worked out its cost me 3 quid a month to own

 

Can't wait for the iPhone 7 so I may upgrade. I've been on the 64gb one and its great for watching my tvshows ect.

 

Have any more details about the 7 come out yet? Whats peoples predictions?

All I can say to this is you must not have had the right android phone, I don't see the point in paying out good money for something which you just watch your films and TV shows on!

 

I can watch all those and even couple my phone up to external storage for even more films and TV shows when I am travelling abroad but this is just a small thing for android whereas you have to purchase the top IPhone to get just 64GB of storage..........Hmmm! not much when one has a large collection of films and TV shows!

 

I bought my Android phone for £269.00 8 months ago and apparently its still worth over £200.00 so on that score its the same as your IPhone except I didn't have to fork out £400 for a secondhand unit, mine also has a warranty with it so if it had a problem it would get fixed under this.

 

I do think that Apple do make a great Phone and one of the main reasons people buy them is that they are so simple to use as if made for children..........they could be right!

16gb though for a phone? You can hardly store anything and Samsung offer 32 as base. iPads as well should start at 32 for base models. I do like apple products for the simplicity and it just works but I can't voice their prices and you have to pay like £90 for be next model.

 

Only that it may not have a headphone jack and the attena lines will be different. The plus version is rumoured to have 2 cameras.

As much as I personally would also struggle with that, you need to accept that you and I are not the world. There are people right here in this thread that have found the 16Gb model to be up to their needs and one of them said they'd resent having to pay extra for more capacity if Apple did that. I know quite a few people who don't store music locally because Spotify and who don't keep photos locally because cloud backup of one kind or another. They use their phone in a way that doesn't require a lot of local capacity.

 

Again, I'm not a fan of the 16gb model myself, but if it really didn't mean anyone's needs then it wouldn't sell. If it didn't sell then Apple would have figures reflecting that (and more than that, they'd probably have device health monitoring figures that showed people having capacity issues on devices they had sold) and if they couldn't sell the devices and/or couldn't support them afterwards due to capacity issues then they'd do something about that. Apple are not exactly known for keeping products that aren't selling in their lineup.

I dunno, maybee i'm used to staying on top of whats on my devices.

I can't imagine needing more than 16gb on a phone. my iphone has 8gb free loaded with all my current music from spotify and all my apps.

Been fine with my old phone on 16GB and been fine with my new 128GB Just clear less carp off of it due to laziness, but don't think I'd have a problem with 16GB as most my music etc is streamed anyway

Out of my 32GB phone I'm only using 14GB (including System/OS) and since I don't store music on my phone (consider me old-fashioned, but I still prefer having a dedicated MP3 player) or videos etc, I reckon I could make do with 16GB. The only additional files really are apps I download, which aren't too numerous, photos I take (which are few and far between) and any files friends send me e.g. images on whatsapp, which tend to get deleted shortly after (and aren't very often anyway, owing to my lack of friends)

 

So yeah, I could see how people could only need 16GB. iOS isn't a particularly large operating system anyway, iOS9 is apparently only 1.3GB, which is much slimmer than any Android OS I've seen to date. Sure, I'm not a fan of Apple kit personally, but a 16GB iPhone running iOS 9? Easily enough for the vast majority of users.

 

The price markup for extra storage is still appalling though.
