Hi all,

Does anyone have linx 1010 tablets and have managed to deploy windows to it?

 

If so, how do you deploy it?

I'm just having a play with some refurb Linx 10s from eBuyer.

 

I'm a bit old school and work for a small primary.

 

To start you need a good USB hub, DVD drive and something to store images on.

 

I install Windows as normal from the DVD drive then reboot and put the tablet into audit mode.

 

Then install drivers and any software you want deployed.

 

Reboot and image the device (I use Clonezilla) while still in audit mode. (Do this so you have au audit mode image you can load to make changes)

 

Reboot and sysprep the tablet ready for deployment.

 

Reboot and image the sys prepped device.

 

Clone the sys prepped image to target devices.

 

There are of course Microsoft tools to do all of this such as MDT and SCCM but this works for me.

 

You do need to use the Windows System Image Manager to prepare your unattend.xml file for use with sysprep. There are loads of sysprep guides on the net.

 

I must admit to being surprised how good these tablets are.

i built an image for the older linx 10 on windows 8, doing essentially what @ReBoot has done but i have just used DISM to capture the sysprepped image to a USB stick.

1010 iirc need to be booted from a EFI source (so the mem stick needs to be FAT32).

 

i would love to deploy using MDT like the desktops but as they are wireless only getting MDT is apparently a massive pita but it isnt something i have attempted.

On face value it should be an issue but i am not 100% winpe/MDT have the support for the extra bits needed for wireless to work, even if it was possible would you even want to pull a reasonable image over a wireless network would be the next question.
