Hi all,

Having a few issues with Google here. We are frequently seeing the Google Captcha request when a user tries to do a Google search, this has been happening on and off for 4 or 5 days now. I've searched on here for similar and most related cleared up after a day or two.

Called our ISP wondering if its to do with proxy intercept filtering for Google or a known issue - they've told me it's nothing to do with them, its a computer here that is sending spam?

Checked Endpoint protection status - all clear, forced a scan on everything yesterday and everything is still clear. Had Spiceworks network monitor open to see if there was anything using crazy amounts of bandwidth but everything is nominal. Checked our bandwidth usage on our ISP and its normal.

Any ideas what I can check? Or what I can do?

That usually is a network-wide issue - have you checked your public IP address for blacklist entries? (mxtoolbox.com is handy for that). We've had similar when our block of IP addresses which was still listed as Romanian or something ended up on a blacklist. Cue fun.

Hmm, I did a blacklist check on that site @synaeasthesia but it all came back as green ticks for our external ip...? Edited by beany1

Might be OK then. We've also seen it come up if there's been an excessive amount of simultaneous searches from our network but that rarely lasts long. Are your ISP able to help narrow down anything further for you?

Argh, thanks synaesthesia, support won't help, on the call they said pretty much: "its not our end, must be something on your network sending spam, thanks for calling".

I'm not sure how to even investigate this, I've run the "Traffic by Domain" report in Lightspeed - using Google.com and Google.co.uk. For an entire day there has been 410 requests, totaling 4.06 MB - now to me that sounds like absolutely nothing??
