iPad bypasses shared calendar permissions

We have a shared school calander that only the reception staff has read and write access to it to populate the calendar everyone else has read only access. This work perfectly fine and no one can add or delete event on this calendar through outlook. However, we added the school calendar for some teachers on their iPads and we noticed that they can add and delete events from it.

Wonder if anyone had similar issue and how did you go around it.

Note: We have an internally hosted Exchange server 2010.

How do you add it to your teacher iPad's?

Simply by going to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account - the we populate the fields for an Exchange email but we turn off (Mail, Contacts, Reminders and Notes) and only leave Calendar selected.

If you're adding the account with the credentials of the calendar owner then they will have read/write access to it.

 

It sounds like what you need is to subscribe to the calendar using an ics feed. This will populate the iPad with the calendar details but it will be read only. It's a while since I set ours up but I'm sure I can dig out my notes if needed - we're also Exchange 2010 here.
