Citrix Client and PCLinux 2007

Hello All.

 

I'm going over from XP to PCLos 2007 at home and I am trying to get the Citrix client to work for a connection to my daughters school for homework.

I have installed the client to /usr/lib/ICAClient/ICAClient,

 

When I come to test the connection, I can log to the homework web site, click on say.. 'Word' , next the login details box, But next I get open with Kwrite (screen shot 1 ),

If I click ok I get the detail in the screen shot 2 & 3 .

Are those driver details for windows at the bottom on screen shot 3 ?, If they are will I have to get the school to add some Linux driver details .

Or am I doing something else wrong ?.

 

I use 'Smoothwall' and have the required port open for the service to work ( works ok on xp ).

Remove detail from photos.

the .ica extension is not set to open with /usr/lib/ICAClient/ICAClient application

Try saving hte .ica file to the desktop, Run the program /usr/lib/ICAClient/wfcmgr and drag the .ica file into it.

 

you may also need to 'sudo apt-get install libmotif3' from memory...

I have only been using Linux for two weeks

 

I think I have done what you say, But It does nothing !.

 

Re "you may also need to 'sudo apt-get install libmotif3" this is not in 'synaptic' what is it for ?.

Why does it show windows drivers on screen shot 2 & 3 ?.

Does what drivers on the school side have any effect on the client side eg. would the school have to have some Linux citrix server drivers or does it not work like that.?.

Shoot off to citrix.com and get the latest client... you may need to use a workaround to get it running (this is available on my blog at http://rmcharlton.blogspot.com ).

Don't worry about the .dll's

Run the /usr/lib/ICAClient/wfcmgr application (you should get the citrix client configuration manager window). this app should read the .ica file that you downloaded, but you can put the details in manually.

If you run the /usr/lib/ICAClient/wfcmgr command from the command line, it will tell you if you get any errors. You only need the libmotif3 if you get errors about libXm.so.3

I get errors.

I'm having problems getting 'libmotif3', It's not in pclinos synaptic.

Any idea were I can get it from.?

 

I had the citrix connection to the school working.

 

From the menu box that comes up (Screen shot 1) I have told it to send to desktop and ticked the "do this each time box" it then puts 'launch.ica' on the desktop, I can then click on that and I have associated it with the 'wfica' part and it then opens up the program ok.

 

I need to get rid of the "desktop" stage, how do in set it so it opens when I first get the menu as Screen shot 1 ?.

 

How do I undo the 'do this each time box' ?

PCLinuxOS is Debian based so you have to symlink to the library because it isn't where it is expected (HINT: Ubuntu does this too).

 

I'm sure it's on my blog but I'll try to dig it out for you.

I forgot to say that I did have a look, but you will know what you are looking for.

I found it eventually... try the following command to create the symlink so that the ICA client looks in the right place.

 

ln -s /usr/lib/ICAClient/npica.so /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins/npica.so

Got it working by, Downloading Firefox add-on 'Mime Edit'

Then I could delete the open with file connection I made (screen shot one) and re make with /usr/lib/ICAClient/wfica.

 

And It works each time now...
