Smartboard Volume problem

we have a smartboard m600 series, with a short throw projector, on which the volume graphic keeps appearing and disappearing, sometimes it will stay on screen and only a whole reboot will clear it.

 

Another problem with it is that if you try and turn the volume up it will always go back to zero.

 

 

I am thinking possibly a dry joint on the volume circuit board in the pen tray.

 

 

This is in addition to the projector seemingly continuously losing signal from pc resulting in a reboot of the projector and crestron control panel to re-synch it.

 

any ideas?
