IPad login screen

Needing to setup Ipads for school environment, where students can login, like windows 7 computers, to be able to monitor students. Does anyone have any ideas of what is the best way to proceed? I have apple configurator and apple configurator 2. Have about 150 Ipads to do this to.

Sounds like the classroom app to me :-/ not looked into this myself as of yet

I am wanting the students to be able to login before they can go to safari or do anything else. Not certain that classroom app would be able to do this. The groups of Ipads do not stay in one certain classroom all day. They are moved around the school.

What filtering system do you use?

For the wifi we use the Palo Alto firewall.

What model iPad are they? If air2/mini4 or Pro you'll be able to use the upcoming sharing feature otherwise you're kinda stuck with logins via captive portal/similar for pupil differentiation

What do you want to monitor? Without the Classroom app you're only going to be able to monitor web usage through captive portals as mentioned above.

 

iPads were never designed to be shared devices unfortunately.

Sorry yep would need to be 64gb air2/mini4's(no 32gb version available) or a 32gb 10/12" Pro

The iPad has no login.

 

If you want to track them then one to one can work with an MDM that requires authentication to your AD upon activation, but if these are shared then this would fail.
