Papercut MF issue

I've got one user at my federated school who should be seeing a print account selection popup and doesn't. The job gets sent to the MFD as administrator and the user cannot release it.

 

It appears to be just one user. I've checked in settings that the popup is enabled and I can send test messages to the user, but nothing I do seems to make the popup happen.

 

This may or may not be related: I also have an issue with IE on this machine where it won't open up the papercut summary page unless I type the IP of the print server, it won't find it by name or fqdn.

Ok, call off the search...

 

I gave in and called Papercut.

 

In the user accounts control panel -> windows credentials -> clear all credentials from vault.

 

ding ding ding we have a winner.

 

All is well again.

Yeah, sounds like at some point someone mapped something to that server using the administrator credentials. Keep in mind the username is sent over in the data stream of the print job. So, if using SMB - its whoever is connected to the share.
