Sims Individual reports and Word conditional formatting

Morning experienced Techie people,

 

I have an individual pupil report and would like to 'grey out' a table cell if the contents are a specific value eg "no comment"

 

Does anyone know if/how I can do this? I am not bad at Word conditional formatting in a mail merge but this isn't a traditional mailmerge so I'm not sure what to use a field tags.
