HP Compatible SFP+

I've bought a pair of HP 2920, with 2x 10gb modules and 4x 10gb DA cables.

 

The DA cables work fine between our Servers (Broadcom/QLogic 57801) and the switches.

 

I have a set of 4 Lenovo compatible SFP+ which were in the servers but don't work in the switches - they flag as fault at boot.

 

The storage enclosure has genuine Lenovo SFP+ and is fine.

 

Can someone recomend me a make/supplier of HP compatible SFP+ as I can't afford to spend £190+ on each SFP for the switches!

It looks like the company who supplied the Lenovo Transceivers in the first place are open to swapping them for HP compatibles with a small restocking fee, so I might have got out of jail for cheap!

Just purchased some from fs.com for my 1950-24G switches, i'd recommend them. I spoke to some guys on reddit.com/r/networking before purchasing, and was happy to go for them after a few people told me they purchased hundreds or thousands over the years without issue.

 

Got 16 SFP+ transceivers for about £250. After ordering i got an email from them asking me what devices i was putting them in so that they can double check compatibility (albeit clearly a chinese person translating into English...the email was quite funny ) Not sure how that price compares to the above though as i've not looked.

 

EDIT: have already put 5 of them in and can confirm that they work perfectly fine too. You can also buy a device to update transceiver firmware/roms in case a switch firmware update breaks your transceivers, not that i think any of us would need one given the quantity we work with. I think someone also said that if a switch firmware upgrade does break the transceivers you can send them back and they've reflash/update the transceivers to work.
