I'm sure I have asked this before but I can't find it so...

This is a first school with one log on for a whole key stage. We have always had one log on and no problems, but since we got new machines last year, we have a recurring problem with recovered documents.

Every time someone opens word, the machine comes up with all the documents previously saved by the last class to use it - which can be up to 40!

The docs are all saved correctly, and deleting them either off the machine or the server doesn't work as they just come back again.

I have tried everything I can think of but the rotten things just reappear.

Is there any way to stop this?

Thanks

Yes

It's always worked before. I could create a new user and move all the stuff but I wouldn't be able to use the same username and the little sweetnesses couldn't cope with a change!

One solution is to make the profile mandatory. Recovery information is stored in the profile.

Logon, clean up, get everything behaving as it should, logoff and then change ntuser.dat to ntuser.man on the server. (You may temporarily need to make the user an administrator or similar to sort everything out - but be sure to change it back!)

The kids would then always get the same unchanged profle every time they log on. We have separate logons for every child, but they all use the same mandatory profile. So it doesn't matter what they get up to; the next time they log on everything is back where it was.

How about backing the user up, deleting it and recreating it with the same username? Then copying everything back in?
