SMART licence changes- 3 May

For those who haven't heard the news, from today SMART have stopped selling software licences for non-SMART hardware through their UK distributor (Steljes). Apparently SMART will provide some form of specialist software distributor in the near future, possibly next week. Based on quotes I've received today, it seems a 1 year SMART Learning Suite licence (giving 4 Notebook activations) for non-SMART hardware will now cost over £300, excluding VAT.

Ah, yes, following the Games Workshop business model - not enough people buying? Put the price up! That'll encourage them.

 

With competing products becoming significantly more capable as time goes on, I can't help but feel that they're pricing themselves out of the market.

Windows 10 is beginning to make SMART somewhat irrelevant from the pen \ inking point of view and these licensing changes will only speed up that process imo

We were quoted that for non-Smart devices last year.

 

Waiting to see the product from Alpha Digital Networks, the software built into their boards open Notebook files properly rather than converting them to something else like other software.
