Sims Profiles

Hi all

 

I'm new to Profiles and have inherited someone else's templates in a new job right in the middle of several data collections, as a result I find myself potentially having to change templates whilst the session is active, can I do this? I keep reading things saying you can't alter things at certain times. We don't use the comment banks these are free text reports, don't know if that makes a difference?

You can change the output, the actual word template used for printing the reports.

 

You can also change any marksheets used to collect data that is then used in the output.

I've not tried it with actual statement lines, however we have added new sections into the comment bank by having a dummy comment bank, putting what we want in it and then copying/pasting into the live comment bank.

 

Probably not supported in any way/shape/form but we haven't had any issues (yet)...

And you did this while the profile session was active?

Yep, I only remembered recently when I was supposed ot help adapt our Sixth Form profiles and forgot until they were a week before being closed for input.

 

Because of the way our Sixth Form reports work, we tried to create 4 new comment sections to automatically generate grade statements based off Assessment Manager data because if we insert straight from assessment manager it gets all confused and requires 30 mins worth of editting for each profile.

 

We created a dummy comment bank with the 4 sections in with the relevent grade statements in each one, copied the comment section and pasted it into each subject in the live comment bank and then set the Assessment Manager links.

 

Profiles generated without issue.

 

It probably isn't supposed to do that, but I'm glad it does. Every Profiles handbook and document you will read all say no changes to the comment bank after it has been linked to an active session.

You probably understand the risk. Changing a comment's meaning after it has been used could completely alter what a teacher has said. Hence the restrictions - correction is another matter.
