Hello

How often you replace/review your switches? 5 yr/10 yr or do you go with the polcy, if it aint broke don't fix.

Please share what you do in your place.

Depends on warranty/support.

If we don't have a spare and can't get a replacement of the same model, or our chosen strategic replacement within 24hrs then it is time to replace the entire fleet.

Sometime we buy low capital cost switches and have a third-party contract for swap-outs. Other time we buy HP with the lifetime warranty + a couple of spares.

Seems 10 years though ends up being the critical point.

We try and replace 1/7th of our switches every year (usually 6-8). That turns out to be a real pita for configuring them as it invariably means we end up with 3-4 different models of switch in the network.

If I could I would replace them all at once and then again every 7-8 years to allow for end of product support/easy replacements/new technologies
