Cloud Server Network Architecture

Does anyone have any advise about network architecture for cloud based systems?

 

If I was to put an internet facing computer on the school network it would typically go into a DMZ.

When I create machines in an off-site cloud. I also create a VPN into the local school network. Should I also create a DMZ network in the offsite cloud ?

If you mean like an external webserver, then yes you could. It depends what it actually needs though, as in if it's a standalone web-server for arguement sake, do you even need it connected to the "main" virtual network?

I'm not really sure. Say I put a SIMS server on AWS/GCE/Azure I guess I wouldn't want that in the same local network as a web server if vpn connects to local clients. It's just a bit difficult to conceptualise I think.

Another DMZ probably is the way forward. Just never done this before.
