HodgeHi Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Hi, I have got to install Smart board 9.7 onto some Xp machines and was looking to see if i could deploy it with an MSI through group policy. I have looked could not find an MSI downlaoad on the smartboard software section. I looked to see if i could find a document that explains how to do a silent install for this app but only found a doc for network based galleries (which will come in handy). I found a thread with a link to an MSI file but for 9.5 and the link is of course now broken. Does anyone else have any info on the best way to deploy smart board software? Thanks.
contink Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 The administrative install has the MSI in it...
laserblazer Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 If you plan to install the gallery as well make sure you download that. It takes forever to install on-line.
Andie Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 If you plan to install the gallery as well make sure you download that. It takes forever to install on-line. I'll second that!! I even had problems downloading the gallery as the LEA broadband/proxy kept closing the connection half way through. After wasting an hour, I emailed them the link and asked them to download it for me! Just in case anyone else needs it, the link to all the 9.7 installs is: http://www2.smarttech.com/st/en-US/Support/Downloads/SBS/SBSv97Win.htm The third one down is the administrative install, and the gallery links are there too.
enjay Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 As others have said, the downloads are their web site are MSIs - I've tweaked them a bit before deployment, but nothing stops you pushing them out as is for a quick fix. As for the Gallery, I've installed it onto the server and pointed the PCs at that location instead - much quicker installation time, and easier to update it too. Doesn't help if you want to use it from remote laptops of course...
K.C.Leblanc Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 If your going to put the clipart on a server set the permissions to read only even for administrators. Otherwise if you uninstall it on one work station you can wipe the lot (oops).
Kyle Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 I have installed the Smartboard admin package by hand for testing and it works ok. When i tried to install the Essentials by hand it stops and asks which subject i want to install. This is the admin install msi of Essentials, what happens if i deploy it though GPO? Does it just automatically install the lot? or will it fail or do i have to have a MS file? i would like to deploy all the essentials for all the subjects

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SMART Technologies Inc.\Gallery\TeamContent\gallery.smarttech.com] "ImsManifestXml"="R:\\SMART\\Essentials for Educators\\imsmanifest.xml"
