Office 2003 - 2007 Interactive Guide

Hi all,

 

I have just managed to configure office 2007 to distribute remotely and am looking at rolling it out over half term. We have envisaged the 100's of calls as they cant find this and that on the new ribbon. We started looking to see if there were any simple guides as to what has moved where and we found these.

 

They are 5 flash files that when you open it, it gives you the 2003 toolbar for the application you go to where you want to go and it then shows you where it is in 2007. There are the guides for Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access. Publisher doesn’t need one as it hasn’t changed from 2003 as far as I can see! Microsoft has finally done something right!!:eek:

Just one little bit about deploying office.. make sure the help works once u've deployed it!. It didn't for me

Yeh i have put the guide in the staff shared area and will be sending an email telling all the staff where they are - not they will read the email.

Wouldn't upgrading Office over half term potentially cause problems for students in the middle of their course work? I would be lynched if I did the same thing here!

 

Also what is your reasoning for upgrading to Office 2007? BECTA have published a report saying both Office 2007 and Vista provide no benefit an educational environment.

I have already checked with the ICT Teachers an the examinations officer/deputy head who is in control of ICT and they all say its fine as most of the year 11's have finished there coursework already, and most of ours have office 2007 at home so it probably wont cause to many problems.

 

We have had a problem with Access not printing properly and crashing and it is known bug in the software but all has been fixed in 2007. I have given the relevant teachers the software already so they are used to it.

I really want us to go 2007 but I feel computing's documentation would need to be rewritten from scratch which would depress them.

How are you handling their ICT stuff for pupils for teaching the kids how to use it?
