I'm working on a kiosk mode solution using mKiosk plugin with Firefox. The plugin is great but it there's no option to disable the hot-keys so if you press the Windows key on the keyboard, the start menu pops up.

Any idea how I could prevent the start menu from opening at all?

I tried launching Firefox.exe instead of explorer.exe as the shell before and it was not working as expected. Firefox was launching but it had a top bar that just wouldn't hide anymore.

But letting explorer start first then killing it resolves this issue.

This is perfect, thank you!

There is a GPO policy for running a specific program under

User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Custom User Interface

Where you can specify an executable to run other than explorer which loads on login. This will be the only program that runs (apart from services iirc).

On another note, when I previously made a kiosk I made a custom exe that would launch a browser then check every 30 seconds if the program was still running (just in case someone closed it). If not it would launch a new instance. Something you may want to think about if you use this method.
