Hi, We're seeing trust relationship failures in our suites. My colleagues have suggested it is caused by mischievous students removing the network cable during login in an attempt to stop the application of group policies. It certainly wouldn't be the only time they're mischievous. I'm happy with being able to fix it by adding the workstation back to the domain but could someone let me know why this might cause the trust problem, if indeed it can.

Many thanks,

Paul.

It was due to systems running System Restore after a failed boot in our school, this means the Machine account password between the domain and the local computer gets out of sync if the restore point was taken before a recent machine password change.

Disabling automatic system restore fixed this for me.

Also stop rejoining, log in as a local admin and use the Reset-ComputerMachinePassword PowerShell cmdlet if you have PoSh 5, or use netdom.
