Windows 10 (1511) on Hyper-V - issue

Hi all,

 

Does anyone have any issue with installing Build 1511 on Hyper-V (Server 2012 v6.2.9200) ?

 

Once the main install was completed and OOBE details filled in, it does the final reboot and this is what I am seeing.

 

 

Basically, a white box with the blue dots loading across on the bottom. I left it overnight and it was still the same on the next day.

 

I've searched high and low and couldn't find anything so it must be unique to my Hyper-V box!

 

Has anyone come across this issue before and if so, how can I resolve this?

Figured it out… it didn’t like our proxy server! Because it tries to grab the latest Windows Update before allowing me to create a username for the first time, it got stuck, waiting for internet connection. But because of the blank screen, I can’t do anything with it.

 

Solved it by turning off the network settings in Hyper-V to ‘Not Connected’, rebooted and it booted straight to the Create User page and completed the setup. Plugged in cable, joined domain, rebooted and all is good now.

Seems a bit odd as we don't have a direct internet connection, only through a proxy server so when I install it wouldn't have been able to connect to the net, but didn't see this issue when testing, so seems a bit strange why you would have experienced this.

I tested it on physical PC and had the same result so it would appear it's nothing to do with Hyper-V.

 

Our proxy server/web filtering is Smoothwall so wondered if it's something on it that prevented it from booting up properly...

We use censornet but MS update servers etc are set to bypass the proxy so probably why we didn't get any issues
