IGMP Enable

Hi All,

 

Just trying to refresh my knowledge on switch config and try and improve things around here.

On each VLAN, IGMP has been set by the previous to disabled. Now it's my understanding that this should be enabled across all VLANs on edge switches? i'm trying to remember how we had it configured at my last place, but i cannot!

 

What is the best practice?

Depends if you actually need it off is always better in any case where it isn't needed.

Yes, i want to sort out broadcast traffic and improve SCCM deployments

If you have any unmanaged switches in your network then leave it off. A switch that doesn't know what IGMP is will treat multicast traffic just like broadcast.
