sted Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Is it possible / within the licensing to deploy ibook titles to managed ipads that have no itunes account on them (managed by configurator). My reading of licensing is that ibooks files need to be assigned to an itunes account (and presumably though technically i could use 1 i tunes account on 12 say ipads it would be breaking the license agreement (and i dont want an itunes account on the ipads))
Brimstone Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 iBooks (even free ones) have to be deployed to a user with an Apple ID (it's not called an iTunes account) this issue is not Apple's fault, its down to the publishers fears over copyright protection.
RLR Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 There's isn't a way round it unless it's your own iBook. What we've done is host the iBook ourself on a web server and deploy it from there. I hope it changes in the future as they introduced Device based VPP but doesn't really work if you want to add iBooks to the iPads. You'll still have to create apple ID's for these iPads.
