clareq Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 My redirected Start menu is working well, and I have exported an xml file to set the tiles, and, consistently, the correct icons appear. However, the layout is wrong -. The xml reads how do I get a three column two row tile arrangement?
Joanne Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 If you kept them in row 0, would it group them as a 6 block? (3x2) or does it just do a line of 6?
3s-gtech Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Hmmm, it appears to be caused by your Group column. Sorry to keep throwing tests at you, but can you now try:
clareq Posted February 24, 2016 Author Posted February 24, 2016 Nearly there The tiles are now right, but the pane itself is still 6 icons wide.
3s-gtech Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 From here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/mt171092%28v=vs.85%29.aspx You may need to add the following within the LayoutModificationTemplate tags: StartTileGroupsColumnCount="1" /> Then change Sorry it's a bit of trial and error, my layout is very different and it took a lot of fiddling to get it anywhere near what I wanted! 1
JRowley Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 It's just this A column is a set of 6 cells, each cell is the size of a small tile, so 6 cells is the same as 3 regular tiles. 2
kidpressingbuttons Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Sorry to dig up an old thread- are you pushing out the xml config using GPO? If so would you mind sharing how you managed to get this working?
clareq Posted March 4, 2016 Author Posted March 4, 2016 yes, via GPO. It just works - I never had any problems - using LTSB.
kidpressingbuttons Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Im deploying mine via GPO but its very scetchy
mullet_man Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 Sorry to dig this up but am deploying out RDS on W2016 and trying to get the start menu setup. Now on W10 I've had issues which I've managed to sort, but this doing my head in. I create a start menu and export it which has tiles in 2 columns - see below. but every time it defaults to 1 column - see below Any ideas? I've to my XML but it makes no difference and always defaults to 1 column. Am guessing it's a 2016 quirk and might have to live with it? Cheers.
