How long to keep backups

Afternoon All,

 

Very Quick question, is there a certain amount of time that you need to keep backups for? I am currently in the process of reviewing our backup process and wondering if there is a minimum time I must keep backups for? We came out of a managed service were backups would go back a year but I don't know if you needed to keep them longer or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We tend to keep backups here for 3 Years then after that secure disposal

 

I dont think there is any amount of time its down to your own discretion i suppose
