[sims] Student Admission Number

I don't think this is possible but I was wondering if it's possible to populate the admission number field in SIMS before the student is admitted. The reason is we use Salamandar to create student accounts via their admission number and we usually get requests to set the students up with an account before they start. We have to say it's not possible as the student doesn't get an admission number until they're admitted which is the day they walk through the door.

We have a separate SIMS manager so this may be possible. The reason I'm told at the moment why we can't admit them early is because they'll be on our census data and if the student doesn't turn up for what ever reason, it causes a lot of extra work to remove them.

 

Would your suggestion put the student on the census data?

nope, and you would delete them if they didn't show anyway.

 

CENSUS date for inclusion of students is mid January, so just don't do this trick during that week.
