Uraken Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 hi all my mother in law has a dial up modem connected to bt yahoo she is getting an message after about two minutes of connection that says " isp does not support modem on hold" and disconnects, the modem is aztech and does not mention this feature anywhere in its setings or how can i disable it, broadband here is a non starter but how can i get rid of this crazy message is it a isp issue or should i try a new modem?

Geoff Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 This might be set on your phone line rather than in the modem. Thus you may need to dial a prefix code to disable it temporarily. BTW aren't the 'budget' DSL connections cheaper than dial up these days?
mattx Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 Like already stated, it sounds like the modem is V92 compatable and you need to enter an initialization string before it dials out to disable the V92 aspect. Once you know the full make and model of the modem - just google the modem name with initialization string and you should get the hit.
