edutech4schools Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Just installed a new 2012r2 server, installed DC roles, moved roles from old 2008r2 server and now need to migrate the DHCP scope. I have tried 3 different ways of migrating DHCP found online, and all have failed. Can someone post the correct way to migrate DHCP from 2008r2 server to 2012r2 please.
pantscat Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 I take it you want to migrate the database without having to recreate the scopes manually? If so... ensure your new server is authorised. Then - on the old server, open an elevated CMD prompt and type in: Netsh DHCP Server \\ Export c:\export\dhcp-database all Then on the new server, copy the exported files over, open an elevated CMD prompt and type in: Net stop DHCPserver Del c:\windows\system32\DHCP\DHCP.mdb Net start DHCPserver Netsh DHCP Server \\ Import c:\import\dhcp-database Exit Net stop DHCPserver Net start DHCPserver Hope that makes sense... - - - Updated - - - Oh, and of course stop the old dhcp service... 1
