basic question about backing up a DC

Do I need to backup each of my domain controllers using system state or can I just backup 1?

I'd always try to do them all, if for example one gets a software error/corruption safer to have multiple restores to use

 

Depends on things like OS/VirtualPhysical etc though

 

Also makes life easier if you need to restore one and not enough (e.g. We have a standalone one on our BackUp server)

Just one should be sufficient, really, unless you have differing services on them and multiple roles. As pure DCs, there's not much point otherwise - you'd want to recover one, then rebuild the others. Conflicting data can result otherwise as they all try to re-sync.
