There are no other options, and only 1-6-11 is well tested by vendors and ch13 has been known to cause problems.

Additionally, though I've never found/seen experimental evidence to support it, in busy networks it is often said by specialists that the channel edges are too close and cause cross-channel interference in the 1-5-9-13 model.

Finally if you can see nearby networks using the 1-6-11 patten and you are trying to use the 4 channel model you will cripple performance of both networks.

Channel 13 is licensed in the uk, but sometime drivers don't support it. (Which is probably a better way of writing my first point above)

Running Aerohive on a 1-5-9-13 arrangement. Now wondering whether it's worth shifting to a 1-6-11, though as a rural school we don't have other WiFi to contend with.

My mistake , i just remember back in 2004 when i put WiFi in the school that the machines with Intel Wireless cards could not see channel 12 and 13 unless i changed country code, and others could not see it at all, so just avoided 12 and 13 ever since.
