maccy Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Just wondered what your IT depts. did in the way of open days? We don’t do anything regularly here but want to start something, even it is just having a stall at the Freshers’ Fair. However we do want to target all students and staff. We did have an ‘IT Showcase’ a few years back, which was open to all, but it wasn’t too well attended and mainly focussed on what the new IT Strategy would mean in practice (i.e. more centralisation etc.) We had things like rolling presentations on upcoming projects (e.g. IP Telephony) and stands covering HPC, Windows 7 etc. If you do something, how do you engage everyone? And is it just a general ‘these are what services we offer and this is how to get help’, or do you go beyond that? Thanks in advance
hardtailstar Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 We don't have any IT open days. In regards to other open days for the school, We make sure that all the shiny tech is wheeled out and working. Usually that is laptops and ipads also presentations about the school on the hall projector. If there is any talks we set up the microphones and a small lectern screen.
