Problems with Smart Interactive Displays - staff want touch to act like a mouse

We had several Smart 4065 interactive displays installed last summer, and they look amazing. Sadly though staff are less than impressed and it's more to do with either Smart software or the way Windows handles touch than anything else.

 

For example - a teacher has a HTML5 based drag and drop Maths exercise. It works as expected with the mouse. But touching the board? no chance. Despite the fact you can drag icons around on the desktop at will, it will not let you drag things inside an application. It works just about if I set hold and touch, even though the right click context menu briefly appears, but it shouldn't be necessary. Especially when on the old smartboards, this sort of thing worked fine.

 

I'm puzzled, surely this should be possible?

 

Another backwards step is losing pen sensors - instead of being able to instinctively pick up a pen and start writing, now they need to click the smart ink toolbox, select a pen and select a colour to start writing.

 

I've got sympathy for them on both issues - why are things being made more complicated?

 

Can anyone give any pointers for using these boards? We're using Smart 2015 software on Windows 7

Have you got Microsoft Flicks turned off?

 

What are flicks?

We had some online based software which would not work like this in chrome, turned out it is a setting in chrome: in settings and advanced settings, turn off 'Use hardware acceleration when available.
