On October 15, 1987, a woman phoned the BBC to say she'd “heard a hurricane was on the way."" BBC weatherman Michael Fish mentioned the call in his forecast and assured viewers that it wasn't the case. Unfortunately, it was. One of the worst storms in 300 years hit southeastern England and northern France that night with hurricane-force winds. In this animated short from filmmaker Steve Kirby, hear from the son of the BBC caller as he recounts to Nick Pandolfi the tale of how his mother was able to predict the Great Storm of 1987.

This is cut and I haven't been able to find the original for years. The full version he has a bit of a dig at the BBC about how they don't care so long as they've got your licence fee, and there's a couple of bits where Brian is shouting "Hello" because the presenter is wetting himself so much with laughter that he can't speak and Brian thinks he's gone. It is absolute gold....
