jmitchellma Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I turn it on and it powers on normally, but no display. Then after about 7/8 seconds, it powers off again. EVERY SINGLE TIME. I have tried the old "unplug battery, power adapter and hold the power button for a minute". I've tried taking out all removable hardware and i've taken out the CMOS battery. All this to no avail. PLEASE HELP?!?!?!
Michael Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Try re-seating the memory. I'd also try running it without a battery, just the mains power. 1
jmitchellma Posted January 11, 2016 Author Posted January 11, 2016 Thanks for the reply but I have already tried reseating the memory and running it from mains only.
Jawloms Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I know problems with memory usually makes beeps, but have you a module from another known good laptop?
Michael Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Have you tried plugging in an external screen into the VGA port? This would demonstrate whether the graphics chip is fried or not.
jmitchellma Posted January 11, 2016 Author Posted January 11, 2016 Thank everyone for the replies. The winner is... "Michael". Even though I had already tried reseating the memory (and it didn't work) I went back and did it a second time and it worked! THANK YOU! I don't know why it didn't do it the first time, but the most important thing is it's working. Thank you again, although I'm sure I would have eventually got it.
difinity Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 (edited) I was going to suggest CPU but problem solved. Edited January 11, 2016 by difinity
