Hi guys,

A while back when I first started working as a technician I stupidily installed a 90 trial version of notebook on this specific laptop so that we could open specific files which had been created in the newer version (15) 90 days has passed since then and I have uninstalled the trial version and re-installed version 11 that we have deployed to all staff (located on our shared files) When I install it to this specific laptop it loads and simply crashes before notebook actually opens. Any help would be greatly appreciated asap - we are having to loan out one of our spare laptops whilst we resolve this, no luck so far.

Many thanks!

If it's a profile issue, you could create the user a new profile. If it's a wider issue, it's probably best to re-image the device.

With Smart Notebook bloatware, I stick with the older version 11 myself (due to licensing issues), looks like the old trial version did not do a clean uninstall which has left bits of the old trial version on.

However I found that a corrupt installation of .net framework causes Smart Notebook to fail. The Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool has sorted this issue out for me in the past. Start with that and see if it works.

Check the created XML file in the users home dir. Can't recall the name of the xml but I believe it get created under a Smart folder.
