Chromebooks Direct to a Website or Remote Desktops?

I'm having an idea. We have a VDI based system available for staff use and and was thinking about a cheap end user device that would just interface with it and that alone so staff in a difficult to reach location can access resources. Sims, shared drives, email print etc.

 

It needs to be cheap.

It needs to have a screen, keyboard and Mouse

 

I was wondering if you can make Chromebooks boot, and go straight to a website and that alone. (VDI has a web front end) And not allow them to anywhere else? That or if they have a Windows remote desktop client.

If you manage chromebooks (so you have GAFE and buy management licences for your devices), you can set a chromebook to run in kiosk mode which could launch a specific site on startup as suggested. Without GAFE you could install linux - but that requires dev mode which is not for the uninitiated user.

 

We use largely ChromeOS and to access Windows stuff (SIMS mainly) we use Ericom AccessNow. Everything else is Google Apps - saves huge amounts of money/time.
