radicalisation keywords impero

impero inform me that the work on a radicalisation category has gone back to a 'pilot' stage and is very early in development so can't be released.

Does anyone have or know where I can get a list of keywords so we could make our own category?

I'd be interested in a bank of words too. Maybe @ImperoMatt might be able to help on this matter? If and when is this new policy group going to be available in impero? Also, have you got a list of words you could share with impero schools?

Didn't it have to go back to the drawing board as it were due to them offending some muslim bloke by having his name included in the list?

We deeply regret any offence caused to Mr Nadim by one of our staff members mentioning him personally during a talk on e-safety. We have taken steps to ensure we do not make a similar mistake again, and will be contacting Mr Nadim directly to apologise to him. We are constantly updating and modifying our keyword libraries and appreciate the feedback we receive. Our radicalisation software remains in pilot phase and will not be released without further significant consultation.

We appreciate the feedback we have received on our radicalisation pilot programme. Based this dialogue we have removed all real name searches with immediate effect. We will continue to review and improve the software on an on-going and collaborative basis.

 

Lots of people responded like someone pooped in their cereal, it was quite eye roll worthy.

@ImperoMatt @Mic_Impero @Dan_Impero I've just applied the radicalisation list to my console and all the users who use Outlook have all just rung me to say, it's crashed and crashing when I open outlook. I've disabled the policy in Impero and had to restart all the ImperoClientSVC via services on the machines - I daren't turn the policy back on now. Do you know what could be affecting outlook?

Hi @timbo343,

 

This could potentially be caused by one of the new terms causing a false positive and blocking something related to your domain/Outlook. To be sure we'd need to have a look into it further. If you want to PM your details I can raise a ticket on your behalf, or alternatively you can contact the support team directly.

Well a bit more on this, might not be as drastic as i thought. Ive only applied it to my techs in the office and things are working fine so will slowly push out to the admin machines later this week and report back.

@timo343, Apologies I'm a bit late coming to the thread. We've had a lot of downloads and this is the first time I've heard of this issue specifically, so the good news is it's working elsewhere, so this must be fixable. Please do come back to us if you need further help.

Wonder if there is much difference between the Beta version of the list and the final release, if so I should get round to upgrading. It was a pain the first time round adding the e-mail notification to each entry. Thankfully not had any issues with Impero v5.20.0 since we updated it in the half term, even with the server only having 2-3gb of Ram available instead of the 4Gb

That's why we never set up emailing out of the violations - until now that is! You can now do it in bulk making what would turn out to be a right PITA very simple! You can make bulk changes like adding an email address to all of the keywords you want to be notified about.

I copied the original XML file into a properly formatted version, then used a script to go through each entry and add the e-mail option, then converted it back into the XML format that Impero wanted, and imported that... needless to say that the Deputy Head in charge of the PROVENT now gets around 30 to 40 false positive e-mails a day from it *whistle*

As @Fazza has described, bulk change functionality is now present so that you don't need to add notifications to each keyword manually. This feature was released in 5.2 but will not be complete and fully working until 5.3. This has already been through testing for 5.3 and if everything goes to plan, 5.3 will be available for release by the end of April (this is subject to completion of testing). Some of the keywords have changed a little between the Beta and final list in order to tackle some false positives being raised. My recommendation therefor is that you wait until 5.3 and the bulk change functionality to be completed, then update your list. You may have to deal with some false positives in the mean time, but it's probably less work load than manually adding every email notification.

As promised, things seem to be ok at the moment, ive applied the radicalisation policy to all student and office machines rather than Entire network and everything is good .
