As the title suggests would you very nice folks throw some recommendations for a sub £400 camcorder,something cheaper than £400 so i can purchase add-ons/case/memory card/tripod etc.

For school use:

Productions

School trips

Training.

Holidays.

We seem to be getting on okay with the Panasonic HC-V270:

We have two of those at the moment, we've been using them to record plays and so forth in our main hall. Both picture and sound quality are great - I haven't seen the footage myself, but the chap who does the videoing now was impressed by the quality. We use 64GB cards in ours. You could also get monopods with feet rather than tripods, they take up a little less space in a hall, and a USB external battery for extended run-times.

We recently got a Canon Legria HF R66 video camera for filming school shows, they drama department likes it. If you go down the DSLR route be careful as a lot of them wont video more then 30 minutes at a time and have to be stopped/restarted due to tax reasons (tax goes up a lot for video cameras which are defined as recording more then 30 minutes video).
