6Foot2 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Link: Yahoo wants to manage your Gmail account too My GMail is fine as it is, thanks anyway.
Arthur Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Considering Yahoo's poor track record when it comes to security I think I'll pass.
abillybob Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 (edited) it's actually able to access your entire Gmail archive; attachments included. And since you'll have your Gmail working with the Yahoo Mail app, you'll be able to search across all your contacts and accounts in one unified interface. So a bit like Google then.... Don't see the point! Does anyone even use Yahoo anymore!? Edited December 11, 2015 by abillybob
6Foot2 Posted December 11, 2015 Author Posted December 11, 2015 So a bit like Google then.... Don't see the point!.. Logon once to Yahoo and have all of your other accounts accessible from within that one interface. OK. But no thanks.

localzuk Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Used yahoo mail as my email provider for years. Even paid for it! Then they started "improving" it, and leaving gaping security holes etc... So, over to Gmail I went. Can't see a reason to switch now to be honest!
unixman_again Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I still use my yahoo email account - I've had it since 1999.
HarryMonkey Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I still use my yahoo email account - I've had it since 1999. Me too. I use it for signing in to websites that I might just want to use as a one off, then I can just ignore any subsequent barrage of emails that they will send me.
bossman Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I use my yahoo mail account for business transactions and my Gmail account for personal items and never the twain shall meet, oh and my Zimbra account for work related.
sonofsanta Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I think it says a lot about Yahoo's fortunes that their big plan at the moment is spinning off the 15% stake they have in AliBaba because that's worth so much more than their actual business. Current twist: instead of spinning off the stake from Yahoo, they're going to spin off the internet business, because that's worth so much less that the tax implications for investors are cheaper.
