Smoothwall - Enable embedded content

Our MFL department use some websites called Zut and Gut. They mainly have embedded content to language games. Unfortunately we block most of the games sites with keyword filtering. Does anyone know a way to allow these games to be used if they are embedded into the site, without allowing all games to be played and without my technician and myself going through the whole site and unblocking each individual game.

Can you look at the logs, find the URLs for those exact games and then put them in an allow list to go above your block?

Add the domain to the "allowed" list.

But if I add the domain all the games on the sites will be allowed which is what I want to avoid.

I would have thought you would want all the "games" from the site concerned say "Zut" so whitelisting the domain name will work. If you want to do it on a game by game basis you will need to whitelist the individual urls for each blocked flash plugin.

 

It can be done, but I would personally suggest maybe life is to short for that.

But the games aren't hosted by Zut, they are hosted by multiple online gaming sites and just embedded into their site. I am currently saying to MFL that it cannot be done and hope they go away.

Ah I see what you mean. I think you have the beast course of action in this case. Don't think you can do much more, other than whitelist the odd game.

Unless something has changed you can put the exact URL in for the individual games which you can find from the logs quite easily thus just opening them, we had to do something like that years ago as a site did some physics stuff and used miniclip for the games but they were semi-educational for once.
