Hi All

Hopefully some one has this answer, Google doesn't know it all.

Is there a way to limit groups (particularly Students) from being able to photocopy. We've set a limit to Print Copies to 1 with a script we have but this doesn't prevent the actual facility to photocopy at the MFDs.

We've set all users to a number but for Students we want this group disabled entirely. So all they can do is essentially print with their set limit and email to print.

Thank you

Arent the MFDs installed in papercut MF under 2 areas? 1 for printers and 1 for devices? If you limit who can access the device bit then this should restrict who can copy?

go to your devices tab in papercut and then filters and restrictions. You should be able to restrict users in there.

You can only restrict colour copying there and if you restrict device access entirely, they won't be able to print release jobs.

Yes there is, you can restrict students through papercut in the one of the menu's (cant remember which). First create an AD group that will have all the students in eg. MFD_No_Copy then under filters and restrictions, restrict that group to copy. I only have experience with Ricoh MFD and the settings seem different when i tried to create a toshiba model in devices. so the settings appear to be different depending on the manufacturer.

alternatively if you want to be tight you could set copier charging for students at £1 per page. they will soon get the hint :)

The settings are different for different manufacturers, but you ought to be able to specify which groups can log in from the filters & restrictions tab. Printing filters are different - under printers, not devices.
