edutech4schools Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Normally we update Sims using Solus 2 but the files have corrupted so our LA have sent me the files to manually install. I did have to do this a few years ago and seem to remember needing to do the update by running DBupgrade. This time the LA instructions simply say run SIMSApplicationsetup. Can someone confirm if I should run SIMSApplicationsetup to upgrade to the Autumn version. Thanks
Banjo Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 If they have sent you all the files try AutoRun.exe or Index.hta. A window will pop up that says upgrade SIMS > click and go as long as everyone is off. Just running SIMSApplicationsetup will not upgrade the DB and you wont be able to login. 1
edutech4schools Posted December 9, 2015 Author Posted December 9, 2015 Index. did the trick. Thanks. Good old LA who are also Capita accredited once again give me dodge info.
PhilNeal Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 @edutech4schools support units that are accredited have to get good ratings from their schools!
Jons Posted December 10, 2015 Posted December 10, 2015 (edited) I have run SOLUS2 (SOLUS 3 not in use) and applied the upgrade (DBUPGRADE /NOBACKUP) which has updated the database. I could not find any new SIMSApplicationSetup.exe etc - they had not been populated. I had to run the SIMSApplicationSetup.exe 1.6xxxxxxxxxxx to 1.6xxxxxxxxxxxxxx in the upgrade folder (long hex number) to produce SIMSApplicationsetup.exe. I might add that we had a 'cannot download SIMSDocumentServerInstaller.exe' error message from SOLUS. Edited December 10, 2015 by Jons
