jslate1980 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Hi I am having a few issues with direct access. Over the summer I had a company come in and set it up. Externally everything works great but from within school staff who have access cannot get access to network drives and it looks like group policies are not applying either. Any idea on what can be causing this?
Blue_Cookeh Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 How do you know this is a DirectAccess issue? It sounds to me like your DA is working perfectly and there's something else going on when your staff are on site. When your staff are on site, what's the status of DA on the client?
jslate1980 Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 I think it is to do with direct access as when you turn it off in connections everything starts working again.
Blue_Cookeh Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) Your DirectAccess shouldn't be connecting when laptops are within your network. It sounds like your Network Location Server is having issues somewhere. jslate1980 Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 Yep you were right looks like dns has scavenged the A and AAA records for direct access which is causing the nls issues.
sparkeh Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Yep you were right looks like dns has scavenged the A and AAA records for direct access which is causing the nls issues. Yep common issue. You need to exclude DA DNS records from scavenging. Annoyingly it doesn't do this when creating the records.
