We are moving our SIMS from old free esxi 5.1 to new esxi 5.5 cluster.

Any suggestion regarding software for migration. Anything to look for?

Software, none really. Do you have shared storage between the hosts/clusters? In which case just import the VM from the storage. If not, you can use NFS storage to copy over the VMDK then just import the machine. Done it quite a few times like that.

No share storage. VMware converter standalone will do the trick?

Shouldn't need to convert anything. The VMs themselves should just work when attached to the new servers, it's just a case of moving them. If you can just build an iSCSI server to share between the hosts just as an intermediary it'll work. Or a Freenas box.
