Installing Pearson Onscreen Platform - Server or Workstation?

Hello,

For a good while now we have used Pearson Onscreen Platform and it has been installed on our exam invigilator's workstation. I'm not a fan of this setup, as if the machine goes pop...so does the Pearson exams software and data. We now have a virtual server set up specifically for exams and that sort of thing, in an effect to have disaster recovery, etc.

I've come to install the Pearson software on the exams server and noticed that the installation guide actually recommends installing the Exam Centre Service on a networked workstation and it is 'good practice' to put the Exam Centre Service on the same workstation that the Administrator Dashboard will be installed on too. Which takes me back to the exam invigilator's workstation.

Has anybody been able to install this on a server, or am I wasting my time looking at this?

Thanks.

Service and Admin Dashboard on Server

Admin Dashboard on Exam User Computer

Invigilator Dashboard on Teacher Machines

and then Student Dashboard on Student Machines :)

Always there as a backup on server incase Exam user breaks her pc :D

That's a good idea, but if the exams invigilator makes changes on the Administrator Dashboard on her PC, is that updated on the server version too?

Everything is stored on the server (Read Service)

You'll find a DataStore folder under the install, that's where all the downloaded exam packages, responses (student data/replies that get uploaded), etc etc is stored.

Nothing sits on the Admin Dashboard install.

I installed the service on an old server, and the admin console on the exams officer workstation and our spare station in our office.

The invigilator program went on the staff computer in the target room, and the student program on the rest of the stations in that room.

I did not install the Admin console on the server as we have plenty of stations we can use. Heck I could have installed it on the Assistant Exam Officer's computer but they were happy with it just being on one in their office.
